The Aces can make the finals should they finish off the Bolts in their Game 4 clash at 6:30 p.m. today at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
After dropping the series opener, Alaska bounced back strongly to find itself in a good position to make the finals, having two chances to earn a berth.
Still, Aces coach Alex Compton does not want to look too far ahead.
He believes that his team’s ‘live-for-the-moment’ approach will be the key.
“We’re one game away from the finals, but we can’t look too far ahead,” said Compton. “ For us, the approach is taking care of what’s in front of us. It’s one possession at a time and that will help us reach our goal.”
The Aces clawed hard to gain back-to-back victories in Games 2 and 3 to get this chance to crack the finals.
In a thrilling Game 3 last Thursday night, Mike Harris had the final laugh as he towed Alaska to a gut-wrenching 104-102 squeaker over Meralco.
Harris hit one clutch basket after another on his way to a monster game of 31 points and 24 rebounds to make sure Alaska will have the series lead through three games.
The Aces and Bolts put up a classic Game 3 tussle wherein neither team gave ground until Harris was able to pull Alaska through in the dying seconds.
Meanwhile, Magnolia will once again attempt to gain the first finals berth as it is fighting Barangay Ginebra in Game 4 of their own semis duel, as of this writing.
