Sophie Albert knows how spice up the Yuletide season

The Yuletide this year started last Friday, 21 December and ends on Tuesday, 1 January 2019. The past few days have December coming in colder than what we are used to in the Philippine climate, but actress Sophie Albert found a way to warm up the holidays as if it was summer all along.

The Kapuso star recently went to San Fernando, La Union just before the big Christmas day to replenish herself with some good ol’ vitamin sea.

On her Instagram post, the sexy actress updated her followers with the trip which she went to with her boyfriend Vin Abrenica as well as some of their very close friends. “I live for sunshine and salty air,” she wrote in one of the photos which she uploaded.

Anne Curtis featured in another horror movie

After a ship sunk near an island, everybody knows that their hometown is doomed. But after Leana made a deal with... to be continued. Read here as Anne Curtis is in a much-anticipated chilling horror story.

And once again, over a thousand passengers perish when a passenger ship named “Aurora” collides into a rocky shore. Many of the dead bodies turn up along the shore of the tiny island near the shipwreck, but many are still missing, and their distressed families are in need of a place to stay in as the search continues.

This is the situation Anne Curtis’s character finds herself in in Aurora, the official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2018 from VIVA Films and ALIUD Entertainment.

Anne Curtis plays Leana, owner of a rundown inn in the island and guardian to Rita, her 8-year-old sister, played by Phoebe Villamor. She is asked to help look for the cadavers in exchange for a large amount of money. Leana is hesitant, but her fear is overcome by her sympathy for the families and her sister’s encouragement.

Helping her in the search are her ex-boyfriend Ricky, played by Marco Gumabao, and a boatman named Eddie, played by Alan Paule.

Though they are willing to brave the strong waves and murky waters, will they have the heart to face whatever awaits them deep in the ocean?

Can Leana protect her sister when the dead find their way home?

This mystery thriller is directed by Yam Laranas, the acclaimed director of Sigaw (2004) which was turned into a Hollywood film entitled The Echo (2008), The Road, and Abomination. He also wrote the screenplay of Aurora with Gin de Mesa (All Souls’ Night) and serves as one of the producers.

This is Anne’s third movie this year, after the huge box office success of Sid & Aya (Not a Love Story) last May, followed by her staggering performance in the action thriller BuyBust in August.

The actress is once again praised for her dedication and determination to give all she’s got in portraying her role.  Director Laranas reveals in an interview that Anne “had to be underwater for 30 seconds to  one minute to shoot her scenes” but she refused to use the double that’s provided for her.

Marco Gumabao, on the other hand, says that working with Anne is a dream come true, describing her as “kind, humble, easy to talk to and approachable.”

Aurora is showing in cinemas on Dec. 25.

Tony Labrusca was punched in the face

JUST IN: To see your idol in flesh is very rare! But being able to touch them is an entirely different story. To some, it may be their dreams coming true while to others, it helps strengthen their love for their favorite celebrities. Take, for example, hunk actor Tony Labrusca and his fans.

Recently, Tony became the headline because of his recent encounter with his fans. He visited a mall in Tanuan, Batangas. Due to the excitement of many, a lot of his fans flocked him as he tried to exit from the mall. This caused quite a commotion and some even tried to grab him by his clothes.

Due to the extreme situation, mall security had to take certain measures in order to control the crowd. One security guard, however, resorted to using violence. In an attempt to ward of a persistent fan, the guard aimed to punch him but the sea of people crowding Tony pushed him enough for the guard’s fist to land on his face. This resulted to Tony being thrown off by the mall security’s punch.

A certain Facebook user named Patricia Ramilo was able to record the entire incident and upload it online. Unsurprisingly, her video went viral with over half a million views on Facebook as of writing. “Kawawa naman si Tony. He went down during his visit in Victory Mall, Tanauan, Batangas. Hope he’s fine after all,” she wrote in the caption.

While many found the video hilarious, other people expressed their concern to the hunk actor. After all, getting punched in the face is doesn’t exactly feel good. Others also questioned the guard’s actions as they find violence as an unnecessary answer towards what what was happening.

On the other hand, Tony decided to speak up about what happened. The Glorious star voiced out his side of the story in order to assure his fans he’s alright and to defend the security guard’s actions.“Hey guys, I noticed a lot of you are worried about me getting punched in the face in my last mall show. I’m totally okay. I know the guard didn’t mean it. Thanks to everyone for being so thoughtful,” her wrote on Twitter.

Gabbi Garcia turns 20 and celebrates birthday with Khalil Ramos

Beautiful It Girl from GMA Network, Gabbi Garcia recently celebrated her birthday alongside her whole family and with Khalil Ramos whom she considers to be as her “core.”

In an Instagram post, the young actress shared a series of photos from her celebration. In the very first photo, it depicted an image of herself and a gift box. The second one was with her family – her mother, father, sister and Khalil Ramos was also there—during a meal together, and then lastly was a photo of her next to her rumored beau with her elbow resting just right on his shoulder.

The words, “My core thank you for the genuine love & happiness and birthday surprises,” were written as a caption for the said birthday post. As of this writing, the post has 135,023 likes with 130 comments. The netizens were quick to flock in the section so that they may greet the star a very happy birthday as long as wishes of prosperity and success in her future. Some fans were of course gushing about how the actress celebrated her birthday with Khalil Ramos.

Just recently, Khalil Ramos admitted to exclusively dating Gabbi. They have been this status for one year already. According to Khalil, he is very happy with his relationship with the star although they are not in an official relationship just yet. Philippine Entertainment Portal, or Pep.ph reported the news stating that Khalil Ramos does not consider their relationship the traditional kind, hinting that they do not share a monthsary date because they are just exclusively dating. This happened during a story conference for his movie G! in Salu Restaurant, Quezon City last November 29.

When Khalil was asked what the things he admires from the birthday girl are, he answered with a sincere, “Gab is a very smart girl, she’s very mature for her age.

We’re three years apart, I’m three years older than her, pero she sometimes acts… actually, most of the time, acts even older than me,” he said. “And I like her views in life, her beliefs, and her family,” he also added.

Khalil Ramos was also quick to praise Gabbi Garcia for her positive outlook in life, claiming that the actress was very well rounded. “Her positivity as a person also, her driver, her spirit mismo bilang tao, bilang isang tao na may pangarap,” the actor said.

Last October, Morissette was warmly received by the Korean crowd when she performed in Busan, South Korea for the 2018 Asia Song Festival for the second time around. In 2017, she was given a standing ovation for her excellent performance.

In a PEP.ph interview, Morissette shared details of her experience with the song festival.

“I was invited again to sing sa Asia Song Festival. Last year yung kinanta ko po yung ‘Secret Love Song’ na ni-rearrange po namin, ‘tapos yung mash up ng ‘Best Of My Love’ and ‘Emotions.’”

“This year siyempre gusto kong mag-iba dahil sobrang hirap pantayan ng performance ko last year. This year nag-original song ako, original Filipino song, title is ‘Throwback.'”

The singer expressed her joy with the adoration she felt from the foreign crowd.

“Actually natuwa ako kasi umpisa pa lang parang na-recognize nila ako from last year,”

“Even when nung nag-closing na kami, nag-bow na kami. Nung pine-play nila yung ‘Throwback,’ which is original Filipino song, music. I appreciate na nagustuhan din nila ang Filipino song.”

Maria Ozawa in Mexico

One of the most recognizable faces in South East Asia, Maria Ozawa began making waves on social media with a series of Instagram posts from the popular vacation town of Guadalajara, Mexico. 

The 31-year-old model/actress visited Mexico for a getaway that included a trip to La Rojeña, the historic distillery that has produced Tequila for almost three centuries. Ozawa was accompanied by other personalities such as Tim Yap, Bianca Manalo, and Charmaine Palermo. 

Ozawa landed at Guadalajara, where she spent the evening at the Camino Real Hotel. She enjoyed her day sightseeing and hanging with locals, before embarking to the town of Tequila, Jalisco the following morning. The trip began with the Jose Cuervo Express, a luxury ride that takes tourists straight to the town of Tequila.

“I’m so excited for my new adventure!” Ozawa shared online. 

In Tequila, Ozawa and her friends were taken to the blue agave fields to learn how the harvesting of the plant plays such a pivotal role in the production of the much-beloved drink. Seafarer's daughter aims for Philippines' 2nd Miss Supranational crown

For Jehza Mae Huelar, her winning the Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational 2018 crown was a fulfillment of her parent’s wishes.

Huelar said her inner strength comes from the challenges she had faced when she was young. She lost both her parents at the age of 20, a loss which she turned into one of her biggest advantages whether in pageants or in real life. Huelar won a crown on her third attempt in the national pageant.

“It was the moment that I needed to be strong no matter what life throws at me, and I became an independent woman,” the 24-year-old Huelar said during the send-off hosted for her and Miss Universe-Philippines Catriona Gray at the Novotel Manila, Araneta Center.

Huelar, who hails from Mandug, Davao City and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Finance from Ateneo de Davao University, has been appointed Ambassadress of 2018 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U). She was recognized by the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines for her valuable efforts in inspiring the youth in the grassroots level through her advocacies in sports with the Maharlika Sports in Davao, expression through film with the Film Academy of the Philippines Mindanao, and health of young seafarers via Positibong Marino, a seafarers group supported by the International Transport Workers Federation (ITWF).

Being a seafarer’s daughter, Huelar strongly supports the Associated Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP), helping draw awareness to the welfare of Filipino seamen, considered the biggest number of employed crew onboard merchant vessels around the world.

Present during the pair’s send-off were Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) chairperson Stella Marquez Araneta, Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental Karen Gallman, Bb. Pilipinas-Globe Michele Gumabao, Bb. Pilipinas 2nd runner-up Samantha Bernardo and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul who gave Huelar some tips for her competition.

Huelar is currently in Malopolska, Poland competing at the 10th Miss Supranational along with other 80 delegates from around the globe. If she wins the crown, she would be the second Filipina to bring home the title.
