Rollback by Oil firms

World oil prices have been affected by reports of lower demand for 2019 due to a weaker economic outlook, trade concerns, high oil prices amid increased refinery capacity additions, among others.

The country’s oil players rolled back pump prices by as much as P0.85 per liter over the weekend, ending several weeks of consecutive price hikes.

Petron Corp. announced a price cut of P0.85 per liter for gasoline, P0.65 per liter for diesel and P0.20 per liter for kerosene effective 6 am Monday.

“These reflect movements in the international oil market,” Petron said.

Petron’s announcement followed the price advisory of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines late Friday of a price rollback of P0.80 per liter for gasoline and P0.60 per liter for diesel effective 12:01 am Oct. 13. Pilipinas Shell followed suit.

Last Oct. 9, the oil companies implemented a  per liter price increase of P1 for gasoline, P1.35 for kerosene and P1.45 for diesel.

Year-to-date total adjustments stand at a net increase of P10.55 per liter for gasoline, P11.50 per liter for diesel and P10.50 per liter for kerosene.

As of Oct. 9, gasoline sells from P53.55 to P61.35 per liter while diesel sells from P47.05 to P56.35 per liter. Kerosene is sold from P51.17 to P61.30 per liter.

World oil prices have been affected by reports of lower demand for 2019 due to a weaker economic outlook, trade concerns, high oil prices amid increased refinery capacity additions, among others.

You Might Be Frightened On A Woman in Military Attire

It is a fact that in every police and military force, it is male-dominated. Even when they finally allow women to apply, the majority of the soldiers and police officers are still male. A long, long time ago, men used to believe that there is no place for a woman in the military. Thanks to women who have been fighting for equality, the world has slowly become welcoming to the idea that anyone can do anything regardless of her gender.

On Facebook, a woman proudly wearing her uniform went viral on social media. Besides the fact that she is part of the Philippine National Police, people also noticed her undeniable attractive appearance.

Joyce Bardinas uploaded photos of her with her co-policemen on Facebook. It already took the attention of many netizens just hours after it was posted. Many commented on her looks. According to one, she looks like the actress, Jennylyn Mercado. Others posted photos of women in the military within the comment section. They were saying that they ‘salute’ her for being a policewoman. Some acknowledged her braveness and were very impressed with her choice to be part of the police force.

From Joyce’s Facebook account, she seems to be very proud of her job. Every now and then, she posts a picture of herself wearing her blue uniform. And even then, her beauty is very evident.

But like most of us, Joyce seems to only be a regular person as well. As seen on her Facebook, she shares pretty much what an ordinary netizen would share. There are times she’d post her selfies, or groufies, and the occasional motivational quotes. What makes her special, if you haven’t figured it out yet, is her passion to serve our country and its people.

Have you imagine Bistek as the Quezon City Vice Mayor?

Did you know that Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista is considering a run for vice mayor in the 2019 mid-term elections.

Herbert "Bistek" Bautista

City hall sources told Manila Standard Bautista is still studying his options, after previously being touted to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Asked if he would run for the position he’s held twice before, Bautista said: “I don’t know. The election is too far [to project things]. I [really] don’t know.”

“What’s the problem?” added “Bistek,” who was vice mayor under then-Mayor Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte from 2001 to 2010, and also from 1995 to 1998 under Mayor Ismael Mathay Jr.

Bautista, sources said, planned to seek a congressional seat against three-term District 3 Councilor Allan Benedict Reyes.

But the mayor “is now toying with the idea” of becoming vice mayor anew when the powerful Belmonte clan chose Reyes, not him, to join their slate for next year’s elections, one of the sources told the Standard.

The same source said Mike Defensor ―the former congressman, QC councilor and presidential spokesperson― might replace Bautista against Reyes for the District 3 House seat.

“I, along with Tito [Senate President Vicente Sotto], belong to the Nationalist People’s Coalition. I [really] don’t know. Any [position] the party would tell [me to seek],” he told the Standard.

“It could be Congress. I have been a vice mayor. I have never experienced Congress. Either or... All I know is Tito and I are a team,” Bautista told reporters.

Sotto’s son, three-term District 3 Councilor Gian Carlo Sotto, is the running mate of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, who will try to succeed Bautista, in the 2019 elections.

Meanwhile, Bautista and Joy Belmonte have been recognized as outstanding education partners for their commitment to increase the quality education through local government efforts.

During the recent city’s 1st International Education Summit held at the Novotel Manila, Araneta Center, Bautista said: “To a large extent, Quezon City, our local government, has stepped in to lessen the burden of education on families especially among the poor, who have the most to gain from quality education to uplift their status in life.”

In the age of globalization, he said the local government and teachers must prepare students to perform according to “standards acceptable at other countries” so that jobseekers would not have to settle for the lowest job descriptions.

“We must work together to share and adopt lessons that can make more of our young people globally-prepared students,” he said.

“The challenge is how to raise the quality of education that is accessible to the poor so that education becomes their lever for a much better quality of life,” the mayor added.

Organized by the Schools Division Office, the international summit centered on the theme “Enhancing Education Quality Through Partnerships Towards an Integrated Association of Southeast Asian Nations.”

Belmonte was honored for her “exemplary dedication to the enactment of legislation that promotes the welfare of the children and youth of the city, the primary clientele of the education sector.”
As presiding officer of the city council, Belmonte led in the passing of several ordinances geared toward providing scholarships, improving the accessibility of educational facilities and materials, and providing financial support and other assistance to public school teachers.

“Together with my fellow awardees, we are deeply humbled and honored to receive this recognition. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Schools Division Office for continuously supporting and placing your faith in us,” she said.

“The common proverb that says it takes a village to raise a child has never been more apparent with what you are witnessing today, especially with the set of awardees coming from different sectors from our community,” she added.

Jillian Ward, A Child Star No More

Many would say that Jillian Ward is ready to replace Barbie Forteza as GMA’s Tween Queen at her current age of thirteen. To this, the appealing lass could only respond feeling grateful.

“Really? Well, thank you to those who think that way. I’m happy and grateful for the moniker. But in all honesty, even without that title, I’m okay because I know I’m giving my best in my showbiz career. That title if ever is just a bonus. At least, I’m a step higher already from being a child star!”

Kapuso teen star Jillian Ward

Jillian, who used to be one of the Kapuso’s premiere child stars is now adjusting to teen roles.

“Like in my latest show My Special Tatay starring Ken Chan. I play the role of a ‘kikay’ teenager. It’s the first time that I’m doing this.”

Expectedly, she’s adjusting to this new phase in her career.

“I think the character of Odette Villaroman is sixteen years old in the story. I admit there’s difficulty on my part acting like a full-blown teenager in the soap. Apart from the age factor, it’s the first time that I’ll act out a ‘kikay’ part. I’m used to portraying child roles that’s why I’m challenged this time with my participation in My Special Tatay.

“Even in my manner of dressing, there’s a difference now. Before, I’m just in shorts and shirts when I tape for a soap. That simple. But now that I’m already a teenager, I have to look my age. I’m now wearing skirts and wardrobe with K-Pop influence.”

Apart from her considerable acting skills, Jillian is also gifted with a lovely singing voice. This she is able to exhibit on the road and mall shows.

“I want to hone my singing talent further. It’s just that at this point, most of the projects given to me are geared towards acting. But I want to express my singing ability to the public. Maybe in the near future.”

She excitedly shares that she adores Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

“He’s seventy-six now but his voice still sounds great. Call me old school but he’s my crush.”

What’s good about the cute gal is that despite her hectic showbiz career, she still devotes time to her studies.

“It’s very important to me. I’m home-schooled and is currently in seventh grade. Every quarter I take an examination in the main school (Westfields International School) and I’m proud to say that I have high grades. I’m really focused on my studies and perfectly balances it with my acting career,” ends Jillian.
